Spiritual Verona with Marina Sorina.
If you have been to Verona many times already and believe to know all about it, it’s time to go up to the next level of knowledge and to have a look at the town’s spiritual heritage. There are many marvelous churches in Verona, spacing from Romanic to Gothic, from Renaissance to Classicism. They might not be as magnificent as Roman or Milanese cathedrals, but each one of them carries something unique. It may be a wooden ceiling or an underground crypt (or both), not to speak of frescoes, paintings, sculptures, sumptuous marble mosaic floors and gilded organs. There are masterpieces by Titian, Veronese, Pisanello, Mantegna, surrounded by noteworthy works of minor local artists. Built to impress and to enlighten the believers, those churches are still telling us their stories of faith and beauty.
We can visit: Duomo di Santa Maria, Sant’Anastasia, San Fermo & Rustico, San Zeno (with an entrance fee but nearly always accessible); San Lorenzo, Ss. Apostoli, San Teuteria & Tosca, San Niccolò, Santa Maria in Organo, San Giorgio, San Giovanni in Valle, Santo Stefano, San Paolo, San Nazaro (free of charge but with limited visiting hours).
During the tour we will visit two major or three minor churches of your choice, among those that will be open for visitors at the chosen date and time. If you don’t have any preferences, I’ll be eager to guide your choice.
